SOFIA, Jan 14 (AFP): Bulgarian authorities fear an outbreak of disease from tonnes of waste garbage piled up in Sofia after protestors Thursday for the seventh day blocked access to the capital's main waste disposal site. Residents of Suhodol, near Sofia, say the dump is hazardously close to their houses and on January 7 launched a day-and-night blockade, preventing the city's garbage trucks from disposing of some 4,000 tonnes of waste collected over the weekend. About 200 full garbage trucks were forced to head back to their garages and waste collection in the city has ground to a halt, leaving garbage bins overflowing and a foul smell in the streets.
