Acute power failure disrupts RMG output
Our Correspondent

CHITTAGONG, Aug 7: Due to erratic load-shedding, low voltage and electric failures, export-oriented readymade garments industries based in Chittagong are suffering very badly, sources said.
Owners of the RMG industries hit hard by the power disruptions continue to incur millions in losses as they are unable to maintain export schedules.
There are about 600 RMG industries in the port city and a good number of them are on the verge of being shut down because of the acute power crisis.
Besides RMG sector, other industries of different categories based in the city are also suffering with losses running into millions. If the government fails to act soon and remedy matters, the industries in Chittagong, including export-oriented RMG sector, may soon face a disaster.
