ICC official Mahanama due today to inspect five venues
1/15/2006

International Cricket Council (ICC) official Roshan Mahanama arrives Sunday to inspect the five venues for the ODI and Test status, reports BDNEWS.
The five venues are Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) in Bogra, Chittagong Divisional Stadium (CDS), Khulna Divisional Stadium (KDS) Narayangan Fatullah Cricket Stadium (NFCS) and newly build Mirpur Cricket Stadium (MCS).
Earlier in 2004, the ICC official Clive Lloyd inspected four venues except Mirpur and advised the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to increase facilities including international standard accommodations in Bogra and Khulna, to remove the traffic-jam on way to Fatullah Stadium, to build up towers for live transmission from Chittagong, Fatullah.
BCB joint secretary and grounds and facilities committee chairman Rafiqul Islam Babu told BDNEWS: We have been working in venues as per the prescription of Lloyd and we hopes we get the ODI and Test status those venues.
The Sri Lankan will leave here January 20 after inspecting the SCS in Bogra (Jan 16), CDS (Jan 17), KDS (Jan 18) and NFCS and MCS (Jan 19).
Babu said that the BCB is keenly interested to stage Test and ODIs at the newly build Mirpur cricket stadium during the Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh.
Sri Lanka is scheduled to arrive here February 17 to play three ODIs and two Test matches series.
