CHITTAGONG, Jan 18: For getting new connection of water supply from Chittagong WASA, intending subscribers have to face a lot of harassments. It is rather a very difficult task to get a new connection unless a fixed amount of extra money is paid to the officials and employees of the concerned deportment of this organisation.
According to subscriber sources, after meeting the illegal demands of these corrupt officials, subscribers can get new connection of water.
On the other hand, for getting new connection of water from CWASA, a subscriber is required to apply in a prescribed form to be procured from the accounts department at a cost of Taka 50 only. The subscriber is normally supposed to wait for 20 to 25 days at best in connection with processing of file up to the final order of the authority.
But in practice, the subscribers are to face a lot of troubles and unless the extra money is paid as per the illegal demand of the concerned corrupt officials, relevant files are not moved and water connection is not given even after on expiry of five or six months.
According to the concerned sources, generally the amount of extra money is realised at the lower level . Those who are deployed for inspecting the sites are alleged to realise the illegal money from the subscribers.
