Wider participation of women in journalism urged

          An annual award giving ceremony of women journalists was held Tuesday at the National Press club aiming to encourage the participation of women in journalism.
Minister for law, justice and Parliamentary Affairs Moudud Ahmed attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Centre for Development, Journalism and Communication (BCDJC) organised the second "women in Journalism" award ceremony.
A total of 11 women journalists were awarded at the ceremony for their outstanding performance in journalism.
Speaking at the ceremony the minister said women should come forward and enjoy the freedom of this profession.
Sitara Musa, Sumana Sarmeen and Sultana Rahman received the best women journalist award-2004 in their respective sector.
BCDJC president Nayeemul Islam Khan presided over the ceremony.
Ambassador of Sweden Britt F Alkman Hagstrom, Ambassador of Norway Aud Lise Norheim, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka Richard Larison, among others, spoke on the occasion.
