China's industrial corpns' profit totals $161b

          BEIJING, Dec 26 (CEIS): The total profit of China's industrial corporations amounted to 1,306.54 billion yuan (161 billion US dollars) in 2004, according to the result of the country's first national economic census, which was released here recently by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The census showed that the profit of the mining industry accounted for 19.6 per cent of the total, while that of the manufacturing industry, 73.1 per cent.
The profit of the power, heat and water production and supply industry made up 7.3 per cent of the total.
The census also revealed nine industries' profit exceeded 50 billion yuan (around 6.2 billion dollars), including petroleum and natural gas extraction, smelting and pressing of ferrous metals, power and heat production and supply, mining and dressing, communication equipment, computers and other machinery.
