RAJSHAHI, Jan 28: Petroleum filling stations in Rajshahi stopped selling of petrol and octane from Wednesday without assigning any reason.
As a result hundreds of motor-vehicle owners of the city are finding it difficult to manage fuel. At the same time, the supply of kerosene from various filling stations remained suspended on the plea of imminent fuel price hike.
Since Wednesday evening, the supply of petrol and octane from various filling stations including Gul-Gofur Filling Station and Alam Filling Station was suspended on the plea of short supply of fuel from the central depots.
Manager of Gul-Gofur Filling Station said, for the last several days the supply of petrol and octane from Baghabari fuel depot remained suspended. As a result all the stocks of fuel at their reserve have been exhausted.
Nayan, a worker of Shuvo Petroleum, said all the stock of petrol at the pump were exhausted by 4:00 pm Wednesday last. He said the supply of fuel from Baghabari petrol depot remained irregular for the last few days resulting in a shortage of fuel.
Many of petrol pump owners of the city have kept their pumps closed. Owners of motor vehicles were seen to move from one petrol pump to another in search of fuel. Petrol was seen to be sold at Taka 50 per litre in some pumps.
Due to short supply of kerosene, many consumers were seen to move from one filling station to another to procure kerosene. But kerosene was selling at Taka 38-40 per litre as against the regular price of Taka 32 in some kerosene depot Thursday.
