Eight killed, 2 injured in road accidents

          Five people were killed and 2 injured in road accidents in different places in the country in the last two days, report agencies.
Three people were killed and two others injured in an accident at Kalakachua near Comilla Cantonment on Dhaka-Chittagong highway Sunday noon.
Police said the accident occurred at 12 pm when a Chittagong-bound bus from Dhaka rammed a baby-taxi, killing two women passengers of the three-wheeler on the spot and injuring three others. One of the injured died on way to hospital.
The deceased were identified as Rahima Begum (47), Achhia Khatun (44) and Shyamali (13). All of them hailed from Doulatpur village in Sadar upazila of Comilla district.
In Madaripur, two pedestrians were crushed under the wheels of a bus and a truck in two separate road accidents at Kaorakandi and Panchchar on Dhaka-Barisal highway Saturday night.
One of the deceased was identified as Shah Alam (35).
In Khulna, a minor boy was crushed under the wheels of a minibus at Gutudia village in Dumuria upazila on Khulna-Satkhira highway Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Omi (7), son of Rabiul Islam of Gutudia.
In Pabna, two siblings were killed in a road mishap on Pabna-Ishwardy highway at Arambaria area in Pabna, police said Sunday.
Police and witnesses said the accident occurred Saturday night when the motorcycle of the deceased brothers collided head on with a truck.
Shadhin, one of the brothers, was killed on the spot while his brother died on way to hospital.
