CCH probe body submits report
Our Correspondent

CHITTAGONG, Jan 26: The Inquiry Committee of Chittagong Customs House (CCH) to probe the recent incident of "Show-Piece" arms haul at Chittagong Port (CP) submitted its report without identifying the concerned importers.
Copies of the report were transmitted to the different agencies provoking rumours in different circles.
Although nothing in detail could be known on the plea of secrecy, it is learnt from the reliable sources that only the drivers and helpers of the trucks who had been arrested, were held liable in the report furnished by the probe committee headed by the assistant commission of customs auction.
Another committee formed by the CPA, also assigned to investigate the same incident, submitted its report within the deadline set for the purpose earlier. However, the said committee also failed to identify the concerned importer of the consignment.
The fact that these two separate and high-powered committees could not unearth anything significant with regards to this case has created confusion as well as whispers of a different nature even in the concerned office itself and not least in the business arena.
