Fuel price hike in Bogra
1/30/2006

BOGRA, Jan 28: Fuel oil prices have registered a sharp rise in Bogra after the Finance Minister's recent hint about the possibility, reports BDNEWS.
Finance Minister Saifur Rahman, after meeting the new committee of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) said that not raising fuel prices earlier had been a mistake. "Prices should have been raised much earlier," he said.
When his statements were reported in the press, some fuel traders raised prices almost immediately.
Among fuel whose price has gone up, kerosene is at the top, said some businessmen. One litre was being sold at Tk 36 instead of Tk 30.13 in fuel pumps Wednesday. In Bogra, retailers were selling it at Tk 40 per litre.
Additional prices are also being realised for petrol, diesel and octane, instead of previous of Tk 42.13, Tk 30.13 and Tk 45.13 respectively in many pumps.
