Ekushey Book Fair begins tomorrow

          The month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2006 will begin on the Bangla Academy premises tomorrow (Wednesday), reports BDNEWS.
Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is expected to inaugurate the fair formally at 2.30 pm. The Bangla Academy has been organising the fair for the last three decades.
Traditionally the annual fair also serves as the meeting place of country's eminent novelists and short story writers, poets, newspaper columnists, journalists, general readers and cultural activists.
This year about 305 publishers would participate in the fair by setting up 461 stalls, said Bangla Academy Director General Abul Kalam Monzur Murshed at a press conference Monday.
Bangla Academy will publish a total of 23 new books on the occasion. The fair premises has been divided into five separate divisions, which would be named after the five language martyrs.
ABC digital institution will publish everyday information about new books and some other information regarding the fair through website- www.banglaacademyekusheymela.com
The publishing houses will sell books at 30 per cent commission.
