Khaleda unveils memorial plaque of BGFCL head office complex in B’baria

          BRAHMANBARIA, Jan 30: Prime Minister Khaleda Zia unveiled the memorial plaque of the Head Office complex of Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL) on January 25.
BGFCL is a state owned company of Petrobangla. It is the largest gas producing company in the country and owns six gas fields namely Titas, Habigonj, Bakhrabad, Narsingdi, Meghna and Kamta. The company is entrusted with production of natural gas, processing of gas to pipeline quality and supplying to the gas transmission system.
BGFCL meets more than 52 percent of country's natural gas demand. It has been contributing to the national economy by paying a considerable amount to GOB every year through production of around 794 MMSCF of gas and 630 BBL of condensate daily from 30 wells in its five active gas fields.
The head office of BGFCL was situated in Chittagong. In 1984, It was transferred to Brahmanbaria by government order. Activities of BGFCL were being carried from a rented house in Brahmanbaria town.
BGFCL required a head office complex in Brahmanbaria construction began on 9.25 acres on April 21, 1999. The project was completed on December 31 of 2004. The total cost of the project was Tk 256.13 million.
