1/5/2006

President Iajuddin Ahmed and Prime Minister Khaleda Zia have expressed their deep shock at the death of Shaikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, reports UNB.
"Rashid AL-Maktoum was a great leader of the UAE as well as of the Islamic Ummah. He shall be long remembered among all his friends and admirers for his services to the Ummah," the President said adding, "In his death, the country has lost a close and trusted friend."
President also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the bereaved family and the people of the United Arab Emirates courage and fortitude to withstand this irreparable loss.
In a separate message of condolence, the PM said that the demise of Rashid Al-Maktoum is an irreparable loss to the UAE as well as the Muslim Ummah.
"The services of the late leader for the Muslim world and his noble deeds of charity and assistance to the poor humanity will be long remembered," said Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
