Bangladeshi manufacturers and exporters, who took part in the just-ended 19th Industrial India Trade Fair in Kolkata, received spot orders worth Tk 342.5 million (34.25 crore), Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) sources said Thursday, reports UNB. From Bangladesh, 40 organisations took part in the 12-day Fair, which ended on January 1. West Bengal Chief Minister opened it on December 21 Buddhadev Bhattacharya and was attended by Bangladesh Adviser for Commerce Barkatullah Bhulu. Eight other countries also took part in the fair. Bangladeshi products on display at the Fair included melamine table wear, food products, furniture, cosmetics and toiletries, kitchenware, soft drinks, jute products, silk products, Jamdani saris, handicrafts, glass sheets and fancy bags. According to sources, the government through the EPB participated in the fair to strengthen and expand export market in India especially in the northeastern states of that country.
