Reinstatement of Kazi Faruk demanded
1/6/2006

Leaders of National Front of Teachers and Employees (NFTE) Thursday staged a hunger strike at city's Muktangon demanding reinstatement of its sacked leader Kazi Faruk Ahmed in his service, reports UNB.
During the nearly five-hour hunger strike, the NFTE leaders claimed that Kazi Faruk of Sheikh Borhanuddin Post-graduate College, was among those removed from their posts by the government unethically and on political consideration.
President of Bangladesh Shikkhak Summity Azizul Islam, who chaired the programme, also alleged that the government was playing a deadly game with the education system keeping the guardians and the students in the dark.
Among those who spoke on the occasion sympathising with the causes of the teachers, were AAMS Arefin Siddique, Akhtaruzzaman, AK Azad Choudhury, Nurul Islam Nahid, Kamrul Hassan Khan, Golam Quddus, Asadul Haq, Alauddin Khan and M Julfikar Ali Bhutto.
Other speakers alleged that despite being the biggest group of professionals of the country, teachers and employees of non-government schools, colleges and madrasas were being victimised by the alliance government. They added that teachers like Kazi Faruk, Hamida Ali, Shamsul Alam and Shah Alam have been victimised.
