NAIROBI, Jan 5 (Reuters): Kenya's tea prices were mixed at this week's auction, with improved quality boosting certain grades, traders said yesterday. Mombasa-based Africa Tea Brokers (ATB) said 101,229 packages were offered, compared with 109,790 at the last auction, held on Dec. 19-20 before the auction broke for Christmas and New Year holidays. Out of the total 101,229 packages offered, 6,200 were unsold compared with 7,854 unsold at the last auction. Brighter Best Pekoe Ones (BP1s) fetched $1.90-$2.80 per kg compared with $1.90-$2.64 at the last auction. "Brighter BP1s met good interest with improved invoices fully firm to $0.16 dearer," ATB said in its report. Brighter Best Pekoe Fannings Ones (PF1s) fetched $1.70-$2.90 per kg compared with the last auction's $1.74-$2.63.
