Bangladesh's spectacular success in the textiles sector, despite being a non-cotton grower, has become a leading factor in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), reports BSS. Expressing almost identical view, some government and international organisations said that the country has showed its competitive edge with the textiles giants - China, India and Pakistan - at the beginning of the quota free regime from January 1 this year. "The country's determination in the sector has earned respect abroad," said an official of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). UNDP, World Bank, EU and ASEAN nations also praised the efforts taken by the government in the last four years to popularise the Bangladeshi garments in the international market, he added.
