Beximco, Ispahani, Jamuna off to good start

          Title aspirant Beximco Ltd made a good start in the GrameenPhone 3rd Corporate Cricket League campaign with a convincing 42-run victory over mighty ACME Laboratories Ltd at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra Tuesday, reports BDNEWS.
At the Chittagong Divisional Stadium, an unbeaten 83-run knock from Mohibul Karim Mithu helped M M Ispahani Ltd to earn an eight-wicket win over newcomer Security Air Express.
Jamuna Bank registered a 50-run victory over Orion Group as per Duckworth Louise method after the middle of the second innings was interrupted by rain at the Khulna Divisional Stadium.
Winning the toss, Beximco opted to bat first and piled up a fighting score of 249 for nine in 50 overs.
National discard Al Shahriar Rokon topscored 43 off 69 featuring six boundaries while talented batsman Mohammad Ashraful scored 42 off 37 with hitting the rope for six times and sending the ball over the rope once.
Faisal Hossain Dickens (29 off 49) and Rashedul Haq (23 off 36) also played a vital role in building the fighting score for Beximco.
Mohammad Rafique grabbed three wickets for 33 while Moni and Shanto took two wickets each for 40 and 49 runs respectively.
Hannan Sarkar lonely fought against the Beximco bowlers scoring 63 off 90 with seven fours and one six. Later, Mohammad Rafique also made a bit resistance with 27runs, but that was not enough to reach the ACME at target.
Rafiq hammered three fours and a six in his 26-ball knock.
Mahbub Alam bagged three wickets for 25 while Abdur Razzak Raj and Shahjada took two wickets, each giving away 32 and 42 runs respectively.
After being put into bat first, the Security Air Express were bundled out for 143 in 45.2 overs as Mozammel Hossain, Kazi Yasin Arafat and Fahim Muntasir took two wickets each to wrap the newcomers up easily.
Number seven Rezaul Haq Nayeem topscored with 32 off 54 balls followed by opener Uttam Kumar Sarker's 28 off 41 featuring four fours and a six.
In reply, Ispahani easily reached the target of 149 for two wickets in 24.2 overs.
Though national opener Nafis Iqbal (3 off 12) could not shine, his opening pair Mithu hit an unbeaten 83 off 72 hitting the rope for seven times and over the rope for twice.
One-down Kamrul Islam Emon narrowly missed his half century just for one run before he was caught by Uttam off Atiqur.
Winning the toss, Jamuna Bank decided to field first and wrapped the Orion Group up for a paltry 105 runs in 40.2 overs with a fantastic five wicket haul by Ainul Kabir.
Ainul Kabir conceded 24 runs in 10-over spell.
Only three Orion batsmen reached the double figure and among them Kabir Subro made the team's highest score of 32 knocking 57 balls.
In reply, Jamuna Bank losing opener Masumuddoula (17) scored 81 runs in 21 overs and they were declared victor as per Duckworth Louise method as the rain ruined the match after 21 overs.
Safiul Alam (30) and Jahurul Islam (02) were unbeaten when the match was declared ended.
