Banking road show for SME sector ends

          A three-day banking road show for introducing different loan products offered by financial institutions for small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) sector concluded in the city Saturday, said a press release.
Information about how the SMEs can simply get loans from banks and other financial institution was available in the show styled 'SME Banking Road Show-2005' at the city hotel.
Information on how entrepreneurs make their business proposals was also available in the show.
Arab Bangladesh Bank Limited, Bank Asia Limited, BRAC Bank Limited, Dhaka Bank Limited, Eastern Bank Limited, Prime Bank Limited, The City Bank Limited, Industrial Development Leasing Company (IDLC) Bangladesh Limited and United leasing Company Limited have showcased their products at the exhibition.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) Deputy Governor Muhammad A (Rumee) Ali formally inaugurated the show Thursday while representatives from some leading banks and leasing company were present.
The SouthAsia Enterprise Development Facility (SEDF), a multi -donor-funded facility that promotes growth of SMEs in the South Asia, organised the show.
BB deputy governor urged the financial institutions to assist SME sector in the inaugural ceremony.
"If we want to achieve the millennium development goal (MDG) as well as strengthen our economic growth, we have to offer financial assistance to the SMEs", he said.
The road show would also be organised in Sylhet, Chittagong, Khulna and Bogra in future.
Under the road show programme, several training programmes, workshops and exhibitions on SME banking will be organised.
