DaimlerChrsyler planning to sell diesel-run
10/16/2005

TOKYO, Oct 15 (AFP): DaimlerChrysler plans to sell diesel-powered cars in Japan, which is dominated by gasoline-engine and hybrid vehicles, in late 2006, the business daily Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported Saturday.
At present, the only diesel-powered domestic passenger cars in Japan are the Toyota Prado models. DaimlerChrysler sold diesel cars in Japan until 2002.
The newspaper said the Japanese unit of Germany's Volkswagen AG, the largest supplier of imported cars in Japan, was also considering selling diesel vehicles in Japan.
