Alliance govt dressed up the administration to rig polls: AL
10/25/2005

Opposition Awami League alleged at a seminar Monday that the BNP-Jamaat coalition government had "dressed up" the administration along its line to rig the upcoming national polls to continue its "misrule" over the people, reports UNB.
With a view to thwart their scheme, they presented an 8-point bailout recommendation for ridding the country of the present "crisis" situation and arranging a fair general election.
Leaders of the party said without clearing the decks through implementing the measures they suggested, the next elections cannot provide a way out of the persisting stalemate in the political arena.
The recommendations made at the seminar are: (1) commission for reconsidering the issue of the suppressed staff and officers (2) enactment of necessary law determining preconditions of services (3) amendment to the incomplete Administrative Tribunal (4) enactment of new complete law for government officers instead of the existing Conduct Rule (5) amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code, Police Act 1861, Special Powers Act, and the Evidence Act (6) freeing the Public Service Commission (PSC) from politicisation (7) reinstatement of the persons dismissed from their services and (8) building Central Wing named 'Career Planning' for civil administration officers.
