Adequate support to real exporters, farmers to spur ‘economic growth’
FE Report
10/26/2005

Authorities concerned emphasised on providing support to genuine exporters and sufficient subsidy to real farmers to put the economy on a growth track through enhancing exports.
Speakers underscored the need for high quality packaging, subsidy to real farmers, cash incentive for export promotional activities, knowledge-based education and training for farmers, policy support, development of promotional activities in stead of subsidisation to bring balance in the country's economy.
Addressing a workshop Faruq Ahmed Siddique, secretary, Ministry of Commerce said, "We should emphasise on bio-technology for agricultural development. Direct subsidy to real farmers is basically necessary. Judging the pace of enhancement of export we should provide cash incentives."
The workshop on Analysis of Export Policy of 2003-06 and Import Policy Order 2003-06 was organised in the city Tuesday by Agro-based Industries and Technology Development Project (ATDP) Phase-11.
