Govt won't spare perpetrators of bomb blasts: PM

          Prime Minister Khaleda Zia said Thursday that the perpetrators of the recent bomb blasts would not be spared and assured that the innocent people would not be harassed in any way.
The Prime Minister also renewed her government's tough stance against terrorism when noted Alem Olama of the country met her on the day at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on the occasion of holy Ramadan, reports UNB.
Khaleda Zia said adequate security measures have been taken so that both Ramadan and Puja could be observed and celebrated with due religious fervour.
The Prime Minister also asked the people to remain alert against terrorist acts and maintain sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Prime Minister told the Alem Olama that the government measures taken on the occasion of Ramadan to arrest the price hike of essentials would continue.
Rice, pulses, onion and edible oil are now being sold at fair prices by the government through Open Market Sale (OMS) to check the price hike of essential commodities.
The Prime Minister further said arrangements have also been made to ensure proper and adequate supply of electricity during Iftar, Tarabi prayers and Sehri, and expressed the hope that the shopping malls would not be illuminated as an energy-saving measure.
The Prime Minister further expressed the hope that traders and businessmen would maintain the sanctity of holy Ramadan and would not be driven by excess profit motive.
Shaikhul Hadit Moulana Azizul Huq, Moulana Obaidul Huq, Moulana Habibur Rahman, Mufti Shahidul Islam MP, Moulana Ashraf Ali, Moulana Abdur Rab Yusufi, Moulana Yusuf Ashraf, Moulana Nezamuddin, Mohammad Humayun Kabir and Moulana Tofazzul Huq Aziz met the Prime Minister.
Appreciating the government steps to hunt down the terrorists and unearthing mystery behind the recent bomb blasts, the Alem Olama (Islamic scholars and thinkers) said the Olamas would unitedly resist the evil attempts of those who in the name of Islam are carrying out terror attacks to undermine Islam and its sanctity.
They assured the Prime Minister of their all-out support to the government steps to curb terrorism and expressed satisfaction over steps taken to arrest price hike of essentials.
