Money Loan Court helps banks recover Tk 320m
Court Correspondent
10/8/2005

Delinquent borrowers paid over Tk. 320 million to 10 banks, including the Rupali Bank and the Uttara Bank, over a period of last three months being ordered by a Money Loan Court (MLC) in Dhaka in 156 'execution cases'.
Judge Syed Jahed Mansur of MLC no. 04 asked the borrowers to pay the money to the banks during the period between July and September last.
The banks got the maximum amount, Tk. 164 million, of their stuck funds in the month of August when 62 out of 1278 execution cases were disposed of. In September last, the banks received Tk. 74 million in 41 execution cases and July Tk. 85 million in 53 execution cases.
Last year 12 loan cases were filed with the MLC no.04. But this year the number has gone up. In last nine months, about 300 new cases were lodged with the same court which deals with loan cases of 10 banks. But most loan cases usually come from three banks--- Rupali bank, Uttara Bank and Islami Bank.
