10/8/2005

JESSORE, Oct 7 (UNB): Highway robbers looted valuables worth over Tk 0.2 million (2.0 lakh) from the passengers of a bus leaving five people, including three police, injured, near Kuadad Bazar in the town Wednesday.
Local people said a gang of bandits who were travelling by the bus in guise of passengers swooped on the passengers when the vehicle reached near the bazar and looted gold ornaments and other valuables at gunpoint.
When a patrol police team came to the spot hearing hue and cry of the passengers the bandits swooped on them and fled the scene leaving three policemen and two passengers injured.
Later the passengers after a hot chase caught one of the dacoits - Ershad - and handed him over to the police.
A case was filed in this connection.
