CHUADANGA, Oct 7: Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) has distributed 250 ring wells and 45 rain water storing vessels in the district under the safe drinking water supply project during the last fiscal. DPHE sources said a total of Tk 130 million (1.39 crore) has been spent during the period to ensure the supply of arsenic free pure drinking water for the people of the arsenic affected areas of the district. Mobile court realises Tk 38,400
RAJSHAHI, Oct 7: A mobile court realised Tk 38,400 in fines Thursday from five different business organisations in the city corporation area for selling adulterated foodstuffs and deceiving people in weight. Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) jointly conducted the drive in Shaheb Bazar and Laxmipur Bhatpara areas of the city. The court also filed six cases against five business organisations, said an official release. — UNB
Four jute procurement centres set up
MAGURA, Oct 7: The government has set up four jute procurement centres in the district town to ensure fair prices of jute. Official sources said Gul Ahmed Jute Mills, Bangladesh Jute Mills, Jute Mills Corporation (JMC) and Latif Bawani Jute Mills have established jute-purchasing centres in the town. — UNB
