Northern General Insurance approves 10pc dividend

          Northern General Insurance Co Ltd approved 10 per cent dividend for its shareholders for the year ended on December 31, 2004.
It was approved in the company's ninth annual general meeting (AGM) held recently in the city.
Its chairman Hamidul Haq presided over the meeting. In the meeting, the audited accounts and the director's report were adopted.
The company has underwritten a gross premium income of Tk 165.8 million (16.58 crore), up by 24 per cent, and also earned an underwriting profit of Tk 20.2 million in 2004.
During the period, the company's gross claim payment stood at Tk 101.8 million. It has transferred Tk 1.2 million only to the reserve for exceptional losses account.
The shareholders also re-elected the retiring directors, namely Hamidul Haq, Abdul Matin, Nasiruddin, Shahriar Khaled, Md Mortaza Siddique Chowdhury as directors for another term.
