FE Report
11/11/2005

'ASAP Show, Bangladesh Buying Trip 2005', a daylong apparel fair, was held at a city hotel Thursday.
First of its kind in the country, the fair was organised by ASAP (Apparel Sourcing Association Pavilion), BGMEA (Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association), SEDF (Small Enterprises Development Forum) and International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Twelve prospective buyers' companies from America and Europe with a purchasing capacity of $6.0 billion have come to Bangladesh with an exclusive buying mission.
The fair was aimed at pooling potential buyers of America and Europe under one roof to source apparel products from the Bangladeshi exporters.
Fifteen local garments exporting companies exhibited their products to the leading US and European apparel buyers.
Sweater, pullover-shirt, underwear for both men and women, polo shirt, sweat shirt, night wears, knit shirt, woven shirt, jeans and fabrics of different colour and quality were showcased at the fair.
The buyers will meet exhibitors and visit factories before placing orders.
The most important aspect of the show is one to one buyer-seller meeting and matchmaking session.
Acting President of BGMEA Shahidul Islam, DG of EPB Mostafa Mohiuddin, Vice President (Finance) of BGMEA Faisal Samad, Country Manager of ASAP Haseeb Alam, CEO of ASAP Frank S Yuan, Vice President of AAFA Fawn Evenson and GM of SEDF Anil Sinha were present at the opening ceremony.
