11/19/2005

Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 7th National Cricket League (NCL) begins today (Saturday) three one-dayers at different venues across the country, reports BDNEWS.
State Minister for Youth and Sports M Fazlur Rahman will declare the seventh version league open at Dhanmondi cricket stadium with the match between last year's runners-up Sylhet Division and Dhaka Division.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Ali Ashgar Lobi MP will be present as special guest.
Defending champions Rajshahi Division will take on Barisal Division at the home ground in Rajshahi while Chittagong face Khulna at Chittagong Divisional Stadium.
Talented batsman Ashraful will lead the Dhaka team for the first time while national opener Shahriar Nafees Iqbal will guide the Barisal team in his first appearance.
Besides, Khulna's old face Habibul Bashar Sumon and Rajshahi's Khaled Mashud Pilot will command their respective teams.
Rajin Saleh will lead the Sylhet Division while former national skipper Akram Khan will lead the Chittagong division.
After the one-dayer, the four-day first-class matches will begin Sunday at same venues between the same teams.
Last year Dhaka became champions and Rajshahi finished as runners-up in the four-dayers.
