Abdul Awal, son-in-law of banned JMB chief Shaikh Abdur Rahman, was Sunday brought to Dhaka for interrogation by experts. Awal and five other suspected JMB cadres were arrested in Thakurgaon on Friday, reports UNB.
Police sources said Awal told the interrogators that Shaikh Abdur Rahman lived in a rented house at Banasree with family for about three months. RAB raided the house after Shaikh had left the place.
RAB held Noorjahan Begum, 45, wife of expatriate Haji Noor Hossain, owner of the house for interrogation. She was later handed over to Khilgaon police.
Another report from Panchagar said law-enforcing agencies began combing operation in search of Shaikh Rahman on a secret information that he might be hiding somewhere in the district. Sources said Shaikh was suffering from heart disease. Awal who was arrested from Thakurgaon came to Panchagar on Friday to see his ailing father-in-law in the hideout.
JMB threatens to blow up Ctg rail-station, another judge threatened
Another report from Chittagong, Islamic militant outfit JMB Sunday allegedly threatened to blow up Chittagong Rail-station if Station Manager Shafiuddin Ahmad failed to express his solidarity by November with their current movement for introduction of Islamic rule in Bangladesh.
A phone-caller claiming himself as JMB regional commander Maulana Abu Mohammad Moinuddin gave the threat over telephone to the station manager at his office at 12:25pm.
The Officer-in-Charge of the GRP Thana said police patrol in and around Chittagong Railway Station was beefed up in the afternoon as the station manager registered a general diary with GRP police.
Meanwhile another report adds from Pabna, nine strangers suspected as activists of the banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were arrested from the district between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
