The police Monday started investigation into the JMB's letter that threatened to kill Supreme Court judges, reports BDNEWS. The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has filed a general diary with Ramna police station following the JMB's letter to SCBA president advocate Mahbubey Alam. In the letter sent to advocate Mahbubey Alam, on November 27, one Maulana Ali Azam, identifying himself as joint secretary of Islamist outfit Jam'aatul Mujahideen Bangladesh(JMB), Dhaka, said that most of the judges of the Appellate Division and the High Court division have no right to remain alive since they uphold the lower courts' judgement taking bribes. Superintendent of SCBA Nimesh Chandra Das, on the same day, filed the general diary with the Ramna police station. He submitted the copy of the letter and envelope to the police. Two police officials, including a detective branch member, Monday went to the SCBA office to record statements from the SCBA president advocate Mahbubey Alam and secretary advocate M Enayetur Rahim about the letter of JMB. They could not meet SCBA president and secretary since they are out of Dhaka. The policemen talked to Nimesh Chandra Das and told him that the police are giving importance to the matter. They will also talk to SCBA leaders soon. Meanwhile, UNB adds: Law-enforcing agencies arrested three suspected militants, including a suicide bomber, of the banned Islamic outfit JMB from Thakurgaon and Jamalpur districts early Monday, reports UNB. In Thakurgaon a joint team comprising elite- force RAB and police conducted a raid at village Bharnioa under Ranisangkail upazila and arrested Masud, 22, an alleged suicide member. In another raid, the joint team reined in Saifuddin, 55, from village Damal Chourangi under Haripur upazila. They were taken to Thakurgaon police station Monday morning where they were being quizzed. In Jamalpur, acting on a tip-off, detective branch (DB) of police raided the College road area in the town and arrested Abdullah al Kafi with important documents, including a notebook. Kafi hailed from Andaria village of Fulbaria upazila in Mymensingh. However, police suspected that he might have given a false name and that he might be Nayeem, reportedly involved in Satkhira blasts during the August 17 simultaneous bombings across the country. Meanwhile, UNB from Jhalkathi adds: Eleven people, accused of killing two judges in the district, were sent to jail Monday when produced before a local court. The court earlier refused bail to the accused, who included Madrasah Super Abdul Mannan and Hasina Begum, the mother-in-law of the owner of the house rented by Mamun, a JMB militant.
