Capital Market Fair ends amid great enthusiasm
FE Report
12/10/2005

Thousands of fresh investors from different professions including students visited the capital extravaganza and marked the fair with enthusiasm in the 'Capital Market Fair' held in Chittagong recently.
Capital Market Fair organisers were surprised to see the huge gathering of investors at Hotel Agrabad. Many of them said they are very much benefited by visiting the Fair. SEC, CSE, CDBL and brokers who posted stalls in the fair answered different queries from the visitors.
Many investors said they are very happy and appreciated the initiative of CSE for undertaking such a nice and practical step to grow and develop the stock market in Chittagong.
While making the concluding speech, CSE President Habibullah Khan said, "During my tenure, I have tried my best to pursue activities that our capital market demands. The Capital Market Fair proved very useful in wooing new and reluctant investors to the stock market."
Khan said, "the Fair has ensured face-to-face contact with brokers, listed companies, SEC, CSE and CDBL. Many of the investors retreated from the market since 1996. However, we can bring them back by introducing new kind of events in the share market."
Emphasising the contribution of sponsors to organising the Fair, he said, "Our sponsors thought it a moral duty to help organise this kind of event for the investors". He thanked the sponsoring companies such as S Alam Group, Bangladesh Master Stevedores Association, Citigroup, Central Depository Bangladesh Ltd (CDBL) and Confidence Cement Ltd for their contribution to the fair.
Khan also thanked the stall participants - LankaBangla Securities Ltd, Meenhar Securities Ltd, ICB Securities Trading Co Ltd, Salta Capital Ltd, Associated Capital Ltd, Union Capital Ltd, Island Securities Ltd, Peoples Leasing & Financial Services Ltd, IDLC, State Bank of India, Commercial Bank of Ceylon, MIDAS Financing, Eastern Bank Ltd, BRAC Bank Ltd, CSE, SEC and CDBL.
Khan also awarded certificates of participation to mark the event as a memorable one.
Also present, among others, were CSE Vice President Nasiruddin Ahmed Chowdhury and other CSE directors at the closing session.
