LAXMIPUR, Nov 18 (UNB): Police in a special raid arrested 16 activists of district Jubo League, Chhatra League and Tarun League Thursday night.
Laxmipur municipality Chhatra League convener Zakir Al Mamun, Kazi Mahfuz and joint convener of district Tarun League Yusuf Patwari are among the arrested.
District Awami League President M Alauddin and General Secretary Mizanur Rahim have condemned the arrest saying that the government had started the mass arrest in a bid to foil the opposition's November 22 grand rally in the capital.
They demanded immediate release of the arrested opposition activists.
