Non-govt teachers want their jobs to be brought under revenue budget
12/25/2005

Bangladesh Non-government Primary School Teachers' Association (BNPSTA) has demanded their jobs and non-government primary schools be brought under the government's revenue budget rapidly, reports BDNEWS.
The BNPSTA took a bid to lay siege on the Prime Minister's office Saturday wearing shrouds demanding government takeover of non-government primary schools.
They brought out a procession from the Muktangon in the city but could not proceed much further being obstructed by policemen.
Earlier, at a rally at the Muktangon the teachers' leaders said the ruling BNP in its election manifesto had committed to bring non-government primary schools under the government's revenue budget but the pledge is yet to be implemented even after being in power for four years.
President of the BNPSTA Mohammad Shamsul Alam said the association would not leave the streets until their demand is fulfilled.
He vowed saying, "If our demand is not met the PM will be shown black flags when she visits different areas of the country during election campaign."
The BNPSTA General Secretary Abdur Rahman Bacchu, Vice-President Abu Mohammad Sayed, Organising Secretary Mrigen Mohan Saha and other leaders of the association were present on the occasion.
