74,692 hectares to be brought under Boro cultivation in Jhenidah

          JHENIDAH, Dec 24 (UNB): A scheme has been taken to bring 74,692 hectares under Boro cultivation in six upazilas of the district this season with an output target of 0.27 million tonnes.
According to Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), 19,505 hectares will be brought in Sadar, 15,100 hectares in Kaliganj, 4,600 hectares in Kotchandpur, 21,340 hectares in Moheshpur, 6647 hectares in Shailakupa and 7,500 hectares in Harinakundu Upazila.
A total of 384 demonstration plots will be set up to acquaint farmers with modern method of cultivation.
Meanwhile, DAE has taken up measures to ensure supply of quality seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and other necessary inputs at fair prices to farmers to make the programme a success.
