Nepalese businessmen urged Bangladesh to allow more of their students to study medicine and engineering in the country, reports BDNEWS.
Shiva Raj Pandey, President of the Kanchanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) requested the Bangladesh Ambassador Saturday during his (Ambassador's) visit to the western and far-western regions of the Himalayan country Nepal.
Nepalese businessmen, particularly women entrepreneurs, expressed their desire to visit Bangladesh to see the micro-credit programme that is contributing to poverty alleviation.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal Humayun Kabir called upon the business communities of Nepal to strengthen the bilateral trade relations between the two neighbouring countries.
Besides the KCCI leaders, Kabir also met the members of local business communities at Mahendranagar, said a press release issued by the embassy Saturday.
The Bangladeshi ambassador said joint venture investment could be made for utilisation of herbal products as well as the available boulders in the region.
The ambassador also urged the local business community to consider joint venture investment in pharmaceutical, garments, chemical industries and other areas of economic importance in Bangladesh.
Both sides emphasised exchanging information as well as business delegations between the two countries to strengthen economic relations.
Leaders of KCCI and members of the local communities were present during the meeting. Later, the ambassador also met the regional administrator at Mahendranagar and exchanged views on issues of mutual interests.
