CHITTAGONG, Dec 25: CCCI President Saifuzzaman Chowdhury has emphasised on reducing the trade gap between Bangladesh and China. He said this in a meeting with China's Yunnan Provincial Chamber of Commerce (YPCC) delegation in the port-city recently.
He also urged them to invest here and avail the Bangladeshi products' quota-free access opportunity to the European Union (EU) countries.
Speaking on the occasion, YPCC President and the delegation leader Su Zhengguo invited the CCCI leaders to participate in the Joint Economic Quadrangle Fair.
It will comprise of the business associations of China, Myanmar, Laos and Thailand and will be held at Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province, in June 2006.
He also recalled the relations established between Chittagong and Kunming with the Chinese sailors' arrival in this region about 600 years ago.
He also expressed the desire to import different items from Bangladesh, including frozen foods, leather and jute goods etc.
CCCI has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the YPCC during the visit.
