Police to raid city spots to thwart public nuisance
12/29/2005

Police and RAB started conducting intense raids in different parts of Dhaka metropolis from Wednesday to thwart any subversive act or public nuisance by young revelers on the 31st night, report agencies.
The decision was taken at a high-powered meeting at the Home Ministry on Wednesday chaired by State Minister Lutfozzaman Babar to review the overall law and order situation.
Babar later told reporters that mobile teams will be formed with police and also doctors to check if any one of the suspected and violent New Year revelers were found drunk on the street.
