Price indices on both bourses rise

          The price indices on the country's two stock exchanges marked rise Wednesday in a moderately active market.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) All Share Price Index closed at 1266.83 points, registering 9.02 points or 0.72 per cent gain from 1257.81 points of Tuesday, the previous trading day.
The DSE General Index increased by 12.16 points or 0.74 per cent to close at 1663.40 points from 1651.23 points of the previous day.
The DSE-20 Index gained by 10.28 points or 0.74 per cent to close at 1595.10 points from 1584.82 points.
About 1.23 million shares and debentures worth Tk 196.81 million changed hands on the day against 1.10 million shares and debentures valued at Tk 132.05 million of the previous trading day.
A total of 164 issues were traded on the day including 85 gainers, 60 losers and 19 remaining unchanged on the day, as estimated on the basis of closing prices.
The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 227.19 billion from Tk 225.66 billion.
Pubali Bank was the top trade turnover leader, in terms of value, on the day with its 13,890 shares valued at Tk 28.04 million being traded. The price of the issue went up by 3.80 per cent to close at Tk 2,051.00. Its price varied between Tk 2,080.00 and Tk 1,978.00 on the day.
Southeast Bank was a significant performer on the day. Its 31,850 shares valued at Tk 17.70 million changed hands. The price of the issue rose by 1.22 per cent to close at Tk 555.75. Its price fluctuated between Tk 559.75 and Tk 552.00 on the day.
The price indices on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher on the day.
The trade turnover, in terms of both volume and value, also increased on the day.
The CSE All Share Price Index went up by 0.61 per cent to finish at 3363.16 points from 3342.76 points of Tuesday, the previous trading day.
The CSE-30 Index gained by 1.03 per cent to close at 3127.55 points from 3095.56 points.
A total of 0.745 million shares and debentures worth Tk 48.08 million changed hands on the day against the previous day's 0.74 million shares and debentures valued at Tk 27.04 million of the previous day.
A total of 86 issues were traded on the day. Of them, 48 gained, 32 lost grounds and six remained unchanged.
Berger Paints was the top gainer and trade turnover leader, in terms of value, on the day. Its price went up by 44.66 per cent to close at Tk 173.60 from Tk 120.00. Some 35,000 of its shares valued at Tk 6.10 million were transacted on the day.
IDLC was the second top gaining issue on the day. The price of the issue increased by 12.62 per cent to close at Tk 1,095.00 from Tk 972.25.
