Int'l Confce on Mechanical Engg begins in city

          The 6th International Conference of Mechanical Engineering (ICME) 2005, organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of BUET, began at its auditorium in the city Wednesday.
Adviser of Energy and Mineral Resources Mahmudur Rahman inaugurated the ceremony as the chief guest. Vice-Chancellor (VC) of BUET Md Alee Murtuza attended it as the special guest. The programme was presided over by Conference chairman MA Taher Ali.
Mahmudur Rahman said the industrial development is impossible without developing technology. Development for the country depends on the development of the private sector, he added.
About 130 research papers including three keynote papers from different universities and institutions of the USA, Canada, Germany, Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia, Iran, Singapore and Bangladesh will be presented in the three-day conference.
An international exhibition on 'Engineering and Technology' has also been arranged at the BUET campus along with this conference. More than 40 national and multinational companies are displaying their products and services.
The exhibition remains open for all form 10:00am to 8:00pm from December 28 to December 30, 2005.
