          Financial News Service (FNS) honoured a number of business leaders and institutions of the country conferring 'FNS Business Award-2005' upon them.
In different categories, the best institutions and business personalities have been awarded by the financial news agency for their invaluable contribution to their respective fields at a ceremony in a city hotel Sunday.
Addressing the function as the chief guest, Communications Minister Nazmul Huda said, " At this critical moment our prime duty is to thwart any destructive policy or politics which may paralyse the economic progress of the country."
Without economic emancipation and advancement in financial and business sector, ultimately, no success will be sustained in the long run, he said. The minister distributed crests and certificates among the winners.
The winners are Prime Bank Ltd. as best local bank, Commercial Bank of Ceylon as best foreign bank, Syed Abu Naser Bukhtear Ahmed, managing director (MD) of Agrani Bank, as banker of the year, Mosharraf Hossain, MD of Mutual Trust Bank, as best banker in private sector, Mizanur Rahman Shelly as best management specialist, Nahar Jamil as best women entrepreneur, Waziullah Bhuiyan, chairman of National Credit and Commerce Bank Ltd, as best bank entrepreneur, BRB Cables as best electrical wire manufacturer, Project Builders Ltd as best construction company, Golam Faruq Ahmed as best seafood marketing expert, Southeast University as best business school, Knit Concern Ltd. as best knit garment exporter, LankaBangla Finance Ltd as best leasing company, Mafizuddin Sarker as best leasing personality, Fareast Life Insurance as best insurance company, Belal Hossain MD of Belcon company as best agriculture product manufacturer, Elite Paint as best paint manufacturer, Imperial Group as best housing company, MH Chowdhury Shipping Company Ltd. as best shipping company and National Islami Investment Corporation Ltd. as excellence in cooperative banking.
