BRAHMANBARIA, Dec 5: A bumper harvest of sugarcane is expected in Brahmanbaria in the current season, as its production has doubled in some areas of the district, sources said.
According to the official sources, about 570 hectares of land were brought under sugarcane cultivation, of which 200 hectares are in Sadar upazila and the rest in seven other upazilas.
The local farmers are happy with the harvest and its high price.
Molasses and lali (crude juice) are produced from sugarcane.
