Ctg rule Dhaka on day-2
12/6/2005

Holders Dhaka struggled in facing Chittagong as they were 190 for five in the first innings against Chittagong's 372 at stump of the Day-2 at Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, reports BDNEWS.
Dhaka's main suffering was the absence of their key player opener Javed Omar Belim, who hit centuries in both the innings in the previous match. He has been suffering from back pain.
Mahmudullah Riad (62) and Sajjad Kadir (23) were at the crease at stump.
Though Dhaka were spending a hard-time at home, but the hosts Khulna were on the driving seat against the visitors Barisal, who made 167 for five in 70 overs, chasing Khulna's first innings total of 379 at the Khulan Divisional Stadium.
Away at Shaheed Chandhu Stadium in Bogra, the touring Sylhet were 11 runs away to surpass Rajshahi's first innings score of 242 in 93.3 overs.
Dhaka vs Chitagong
Dhaka realised the absence of injured opener Javed Omar, who hammered a back-to-back century in just previous round longer version match against Barisal, as the defending champions lost opener Mehrab Hossain Opee (0) in the second delivery of the second over and AL Shahriar Rokon (10) in the 11th over with scoreboard reading 24 for two.
Dhaka were reeling 75 for four at one stage and skipper Ashraful along with Mahmuddulah Riad repaired the damage a bit putting 37 runs for the fifth wicket stand before the skipper (33) was trapped lbw off Yasin, who was the successful bowler taking two wickets for 49.
Riad then took the whole responsibility over his shoulder to add an unbeaten 78-run for the sixth wicket stand along with wicketkeeper Sajjad Kadir, who played an patient innings of 23 knocking 76 balls. Riad scored 62 off 144 balls that included eight fours.
Earlier, Chittagong having started on 334 for six ended their first innings on 377 as nightwatch batsman Faisal Hossain (overnight 77) missed the century for nine runs as the left-handed batsman was bowled by Khaled Mahmud.
Ahsanullah Hasan added eight runs with his overnight score of 10 that clobbered one fours and one six.
Khulna vs Barisal
Khulna resumed on 305 to add another 74 runs as trio pacers -- Sayed Rasel (26), Ziaur Rahman (29) and Monjurul Islam (23) -- batted like natural batsmen.
Barisal started decent start against the host putting on 90 runs for the opening pair stand between Imran Ahmed and Shahriar Nafess, but national spinner Majarul Islma Rana broke the pair sending back Imran for 41 off 154 balls featuring six fours.
After losing Imran, Barisal received another two immediate jolts dropping Nasiruddin Faruq (1) and Hannan Sarkar (9) with scoreboard showing 104 for three as Jamaluddin Babu removed both the batsmen.
Jamaluddin, who finished four for 40, also dismissed Nafees (64 off 81 balls) and Humayun Kabir (27).
Marshal Ayub (13) and M Shahin (4) remained unbeaten when the stump were drawn.
Rajshahi vs Sylhet
After bowling Rajshahi out for 242 in the first innings, the visitors Sylhet scored 232 for six at stump with Rezaul Haq (5) and Enamul Haq (2) were batting.
Moniruzzaman topscored with 86 off 142 balls that included nine fours, followed by Alok Kapali's 38, Golam Maula's 31 and Imtiaz Hossain's 26.
