A two-day International Congress of Bangladesh Society of Medicine (BSM) and Scientific Seminar -2005 inaugurated in the city Tuesday, reports BDNEWS. Now a days patients need not go abroad for medical treatment due to the massive development of medical science in the country, it was claimed at a seminar. The speakers said this at the inaugural session of the 6th International Congress of BSM and Scientific Seminar-2005 in the city. State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mizanur Rahman Sinha attended as the chief guest while BSM President KM Rafique Uddin presided over the session. The state minister said the medicare facilities could not be extended to the doorsteps of the people without the assistance of the doctors. The BSM President said doctors must emphasise internship to gain more experience so that could then send patients to the concerned specialists. President of Bangladesh Medical association (BMA) Hadi and Secretary General AZM Zahid Hossain also spoke on the occasion. Medical scientists from different countries, including USA, Britain, France, Sweden, Singapore, India and Pakistan, are attending the seminar. They are discussing several topical issues like Bird flu, AIDS, Diabetes and Poisoning.
