Dollar, call rate lose ground
FE Report
12/8/2005

The US dollar slightly lost ground against the Bangladesh taka Wednesday in the local inter-bank foreign exchange market. The inter-bank call money rate also eased in an active market. The dollar was, however, almost steady in the informal market, fund managers said.
In the formal inter-bank market, the exchange rate of the greenback against the taka varied between Tk 65.90 and Tk 66.00 against the previous day's range between Tk 65.95 and Tk 66.00. The dollar was firmer in public deals and was transacted between Tk 64.00 and Tk 67.67.
The call rate mainly ranged between 6.00 per cent and 13.00 per cent against the previous day's range between 6.15 per cent and 13.25 per cent.
Most of the deals were settled at rates between 7.00 per cent and 8.00 per cent.
