The government is hopeful of realising compensation from Niko for two blowouts at Tengratila gas field. Energy Ministry Adviser Mahmudur Rahman said this Thursday after a meeting with Country Director and Vice President of the Canadian company Brian J Adolph. The latter met Rahman at his office and formally handed over the reply of his company on the compensation claim made by Petrobangla for the blowouts. The government claimed compensation for the burning out of 8.89 bcf gas and damage to the environment by the two blowouts. Rahman said Niko did not rule out the compensation claim. — UNB
