KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 (Reuters): Malaysian tin prices rose slightly today, spurred by demand from European buyers after a rise in London metal prices, dealers said. Spot tin on the Kuala Lumpur Tin Market KLTIO rose $30, or 0.5 per cent, to end at $6,620 a tonne. "The price is expected to be around the $6,700 level this week," a trader said. LME's three-month tin MSN3, the main guide to Kuala Lumpur tin, rose $25 to end Wednesday at $6,675. Volume in Kuala Lumpur was 80 tonnes, the same amount that changed hands Wednesday. Initial bids totalled 100 tonnes against offers of 66 tonnes. European buyers eventually took 50 tonnes, Japanese buyers bought 20 tonnes, and Malaysian buyers 10 tonnes.
