Seed crisis may hamper potato farming
Our Correspondent
12/9/2005

BRAHMANBARIA, Dec 8: Potato cultivation in Brahmanbaria may be hampered this season due to acute shortage as well as high price of seeds.
Farmers have alleged that Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation's (BADC) selected seed dealers and other traders were presently selling low-quality seeds at high prices. They are trying to create an artificial crisis to earn extra profit, farmers said.
While visiting the local markets this correspondent found that BADC seeds were available in the open market in plenty. These are being sold at Ananda Bazar, Sarakbazar, Jagat Bazar and Medda Bazar of the district.
