Local pharmaceuticals to get enhanced market access in Lanka
2/1/2006

Local pharmaceutical companies are set to get an enhanced market access for their products in Sri Lanka in next two weeks, reports UNB.
They are expecting drug registration for 31 new items from the Sri Lankan Health Ministry in addition to six items already launched early this month in that market.
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice-chairman Mir Shahabuddin Mohammad at a press briefing Tuesday told the newsmen that the Sri Lankan government is expected to complete the registration formalities within seven to 15 days.
"It will open up a new door for our pharmaceutical industry… and if we can maintain the quality of our products, we have tremendous opportunity to capture 100 per cent import-oriented Sri Lankan market," he told the briefing.
Commerce ministry organised the briefing to inform media on the achievements from the first-ever single country Bangladesh Trade Show in Sri Lanka that was held on January 20 to 23.
Commerce Minister Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Secretary Abdul Karim, BEPZA Chairman Zakir and high officials of the ministry were also present.
The EPB Vice-chairman apprised Bangladesh received spot orders of various products worth Tk480.9 million (48.09 crore), including prospective orders of Tk 373,1 million, during the fair at Colombo.
