Work for party candidate in next polls, says Hasina
2/1/2006

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Sheikh Hasina Tuesday categorically asked her partymen to work for the party candidates whoever the party nominates for the next general elections, reports BDNEWS.
"You must forget about inner feud. Party will take the decision who will be nominated to contest. You will have to vote for boat even if a banana tree gets the symbol," Hasina said.
The Awami League (AL) president was speaking at her Dhanmondi office in the afternoon when former naval chief Rear Admiral (rtd) M Abu Taher, Faridpur district Jatiya Party general secretary Saiful Islam Nilu and former secretary Fazlur Rahman came to join her party with their several hundred followers.
She said elections could never take place with the voter list that is under preparation by the Election Commission (EC) now.
Calling upon the people to remain alert about circulating black money by the BNP-Jamaat alliance ahead of elections, she said minority voters and families belonging to Awami Leaguers were deliberately excluded from the voter list to ensure unchallenged victory of the ruling coalition.
Bitterly criticising her arch political rival Prime Minister Khaleda Zia for politicising the administration and other constitutional institutions to rig the election and assume power again, Hasina said people do not want to see them in the office anymore.
